Taking the dog on holiday
Of course, you can bring your dog to our coastal park, but of course you do not know yet what to do with your four-legged friend. That is why we give you a hand with the nicest outings with the dog.
Hiking with the dog is of course possible in the area, and if your dog can run alongside a bike, that is also a good option. See what other great options there are here!
The dog park
Between Nieuwpoort and Nieuwpoort-Bad, there are two dog walking areas.
- Leopold II Park dog-walking area (577 m²)
- Prins Mauritspark dog-walking area (2,500 m²)
Here, the animals can have a lovely time playing together whilst you sit back and watch from a bench. The exact address is 8620 Nieuwpoort, Belgium. Let your dog enjoy a lovely afternoon with all sorts of other dogs.
Dogs on the beach in Nieuwpoort
Of course, you’d love to enjoy yourself with your dog – we understand that better than anyone. However, there are a number of rules that apply right on the beach at Nieuwpoort.
Please note that dogs are not allowed on Nieuwpoort beach itself between 15 June and 15 September. Outside these times, dogs are permitted on a lead before 10.30 am and after 6.30 pm.
Need a vet?
Of course, it’s also important that you always know which vets are in your area. That’s why we’ve put together a list of various vets for you.
- B. Ternier, Marktstraat 63, Tel: +32 (0)475 49 00 00
- E. Buyse, Astridlaan 90, Tel: +32 (0)474 36 41 51 - dierenartselisebuyse.be
Taking your dog to the beach in Middelkerke
Are you staying at Kustpark Nieuwpoort with your dog and would you like to enjoy the sea and the beach together? If so, Middelkerke is a lovely destination nearby. There are three beach areas where dogs are welcome all year round.
- Louis Logierlaan Zone (west of the sports beach). In this supervised zone, dogs must be kept on a lead no longer than 10 metres.
- Carlton area (towards Ostend). Dogs are allowed to run free from the breakwater near Sluisvaartstraat to the municipal boundary with Ostend.
- Cristal Palace area (towards Nieuwpoort). From Idyllelaan to the boundary with Nieuwpoort, dogs must be kept on a lead of no more than 10 metres.
Thanks to these clearly marked areas, you and your four-legged friend can enjoy a refreshing walk on the beach without a care in the world. Middelkerke is just a short distance away, making it the perfect spot for a fun day out during your stay.
Tip: Always respect local rules and be considerate of other beachgoers.
